goldcoast.com.au - portal to the Gold Coast
October 5th, 2007
There’s now more than one way to go surfing at The Gold Coast , with the launch of www.goldcoast.com.au, a dynamic website that has everything from local news and sport, to the latest in fashion and weather, and a wealth of information for tourists and visitors.
The goldcoast.com.au website is the culmination of a great collaborative work effort between ireckon and the team at The Gold Coast Bulletin. After designing The Gold Coast Bulletin’s previous website, gcbulletin.com.au, ireckon were invited to design and deliver a website whose role is to become the portal to the city of the Gold Coast.
The result is goldcoast.com.au, launched on Thursday 22nd July by Deputy Premier Anna Bligh.
The website is jam packed with news, local information, and interactive features designed to make the visitors experience of the website entertaining and captivating.
Features of the website, designed by ireckon include:
- News – latest news from around The Gold Coast Bulletin’s vast network, uploaded using ireckon’s ARK Content Management System (ARK CMS). ARK CMS allows for easy upload of stories and content to the website without the need for technical expertise. Journalists or editors can upload content from any computer that has internet access.
- RSS Feeds – visitors are able to receive the latest news headlines, or other content feeds direct to their desktop by subscribing online.
- Videos – viewers are able to view videos of news, sport and entertainment, or view the goldcoast.com.au’s welcome video
- Gold Coast Live – Visitors are able to read all about what’s happening around the Gold Coast, through gossip, interviews and photo galleries. Ireckon our ARK CMS allows goldcoast.com.au to upload photos with ease.
- Community Calendar – ireckon we have designed a community calendar for goldcoast.com.au that allows visitors to see what is happening around the Gold Coast, by clicking on a date on the calendar. Users are also able to list an event to appear on the calendar.
- Your space – Your Space has been designed to get the community involved in the website. Visitors are able to upload their best pictures of the Gold Coast, have their say on selected stories or send in feedback, as well as vote on the goldcoast.com.au’s daily poll, using the poll tool designed and implemented by ireckon.
- Horizontal Scrolling – with so much news available from around the goldcoast.com.au’s network, and with so many features to be promoted on the website, ireckon we have integrated horizontal scrolling toolbars that allows visitors to peruse content across their screen, rather than end up scrolling way down the page.
These are just some of the great features designed and implemented by ireckon that can be found at www.goldcoast.com.au.
Go surfing at goldcoast.com.au, the portal to the Gold Coast, to catch up with all the news happening around the area, or to start planning your next trip.
